Today the Supreme Court, in a unanimous 9-0 decision, ruled that the City of Philadelphia can’t discriminate against a faith-based foster care agency because of its religious beliefs.

The City stopped referring children to Catholic Social Services in 2018 because the agency—which accepts the biblical teaching that marriage is between one man and one woman—couldn’t agree to place children with same-sex couples.

With this decision, the Court ruled against the City’s discriminatory practice of preventing Catholic Social Services from serving children and families because the City disapproved of Catholic Social Services’ religious beliefs.

This is a win for religious freedom, and every American benefits from today’s unanimous opinion—especially the children in Philadelphia, who now will have more opportunities to find a loving home.
