A New Chapter for Billy and Hope Poff
It is rare to find a couple who have become so synonymous with the mission of the Virginia Church of God State Office, but we did just that with Billy and Hope Poff. To call them dedicated employees would be an understatement. They are both icons as members of our staff, each with a servant’s heart that was visible from day one. Billy joined the staff as Maintenance Superintendent, April 14, 2012, under Bishop Corder. Hope worked part-time in 2017 after Billy and Hope got married, and joined the staff in 2018. After fourteen years of faithful service to the Church of God State Office, Billy has decided to return to his former career as a contractor at the end of the summer season.
While it is difficult to imagine our daily operations without their expertise and their friendly smiles, we recognize that this transition is simply the next step in God’s will for them both. We fully support their decision as they follow the path God has set for their future, confident that the same dedication they gave to us will lead them both to great success in this new chapter.
Although they are moving from their positions at the State Office, the impact and progress Billy and Hope leave behind on the campground is permanent. We have so many examples of Billy’s talents and skills as a contractor that have already left their mark on campus, such as the Davis Hall Dorm—which he supervised from foundation to completion in 2018—and the current two-story bathhouse project he is coordinating to ensure it is ready for youth camps this summer. Additionally, Hope has been diligently overseeing the cleaning of all our buildings and ensuring the entire campus was 'flipped' and ready prior to state events and rentals for the last eight years. Her work and his together exhibit the definition of the “dream team.”
They have been more than colleagues; they are true friends to everyone on staff and throughout Virginia Church of God. While we are sad to see them go, we are filled with gratitude for the years’ worth of memories we have of them both.
On July 31, we will send them off with our deepest thanks and our prayers, knowing that while they may be leaving the State Office, they will always be a cherished part of our Virginia Church of God family.
