Ministry Opportunity as Student Pastor in Hopewell
The following position is open at City Point Restoration Church of God.
Position: Student Pastor
Location: City Point Restoration Church
The Student Pastor is a staff member employed by the local church to direct and/or oversee the Student Ministries of the church. The responsibilities of the Student Pastor should support and reflect the pastor’s vision and leadership through his/her distinctive personality, teaching, training, vision, outreach, and ministry strengths. The Student Pastor is therefore subject to the pastor that God has placed over him/her, being clothed with humility and service.

· Accountable to: Lead Pastor (indirectly responsible to the Pastor’s Council, Elders, or established body of church leadership put into place for said purposes)
· Ministry Target: Student leaders, team captains, workers, teachers, and all students (age of inclusive youth being determined by church and ministry) of the church
· This position is a: paid full-time staff who receives compensation and/or benefits and whose position is accountable to the IRS ministerial regulations and qualifications.
· Position may be filled by: the recommendation of the Lead Pastor and approved by the Pastor’s Council.
· Minimum maturity requirements: One who is loyal to the pastor, who exhibits a growing lifestyle in his/her commitment to God, who is stable in his/her beliefs and practices, who reflects a moral integrity toward the world view of ministry, who is hospitable, and one who can operate with courage and diplomacy.
· Spiritual gifts that tend to lend themselves to this position: a teachable spirit, a positive servant’s heart, a team player, a desire to always look for ways to grow in vertical relationship with Christ and horizontally with others, with a high level of integrity and excellence in pleasing God.
· Special talents or abilities desired: communication with church leadership and students at large, who presents himself/herself with use enterprise in constructive and productive ways, and who can delegate, recruit, and cast vision in a way that attracts future leaders and workers.
· Best personality characteristics for position: to be able to be flexible, relational, self-starter and motivator, maintaining a high energy level, and to keep a sense of humor and be able to show emotions in a constructive and encouraging way.
· Length of service commitment: This decision is based on the agreement made by the Pastor and/or church leadership with the Student Pastor at time of employment. Certain conditions may warrant a trial period or a targeted date to re-evaluate (as established by the leadership of the church at time of employment).
· Anticipated time commitment: Scheduling of time in the office, student programming and activity, visitation, counseling, and other church-related responsibilities are to be determined by an agreement between the Lead Pastor, and/or Pastor’s Council and the prospective Student Pastor.
Responsibilities:
· Be responsible for organizing, training and implementing a voluntary staff of student leaders and workers to assist in student ministry. This responsibility will include oversight of all middle school, and high school students.
· Develop a vision, vision and mission statement, including specific purpose, a time frame for achievement, measurable, identifiable, and attainable.
· Be culturally relevant to the needs of today’s student environment.
· Be able to communicate effectively the vision and mission of the student ministry to current and prospective leaders, parents, and church leadership.
· To work in harmony with the Lead Pastor, participating and involving the total church vision and mission to the Student Ministries vision and mission, becoming an extension of the Lead Pastor to the students of the church.
· Providing opportunities for students to involve themselves in missions, both domestic and internationally.
· Be familiar with all international, state, and local programming and ministry opportunities for student involvement. This includes promoting summer youth camps and winter retreats for students.
· Exhibit the spiritual qualities of a solid testimony, a controlled attitude, a mature disposition, a moral code of ethics, and able to teach and be teachable.
· To daily take time for his/her family needs, as well as presenting a burden for the families represented in the student ministry.
· To coordinate student outreach ministry programs for the students of the church, giving them ownership of the ministry that involves them.
· Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the existing program as it relates to the total ministry of the church.
Specific responsibilities that may include planning and scheduling of activities, student involvement in the multi-church ministry function, specified office hours and office duties, role on boards and committees, promotion and establishing general and state church programs, fundraising, staff relationships, pastoral duties and levels of authority, should be determined in conjunction with the Lead Pastor, other boards, and selected church leaders.
Our church is in Hopewell Virginia and our community is multi-cultural. We believe that God has called us to reach the students of this city so we are looking for a couple with experience in a multi-cultural ministries.
