Note Burning Ceremony Scheduled, June 12

For nearly 70 years the ministry of Virginia Church of God Youth Camp has been a powerful means of reaching future generations for Christ. Pastors, evangelists, church planters, teachers, and local church leaders have all been deeply touched by the Holy Spirit at Virginia youth camp. Seeing the need for expanded and updated housing for campers, Bishop Joseph Mirkovich and the State Youth and Discipleship Director, Bishop Mark Cary, along with the Virginia State Council launched an ambitious campaign to construct a new dormitory which would provide not only expanded capacity for youth camps, but would also serve as an attractive lodging facility for future rentals of the campground.

Construction began in October of 2016 and in the Spring of 2018 the building was completed and used for youth camp in July that same year. A special dedication ceremony took place in June of 2019 with the dormitory being named the W. A. Davis Hall, in honor of the late Bishop W. A. Davis. Since this dedication, hundreds of campers have been comfortably housed in the Davis Hall and encountered the presence of the Holy Spirit during youth camp. Additionally, numerous groups have used this facility as various churches and other groups have utilized the Virginia Church of God Campground to seek God’s presence and grow in discipleship.

Constructed at a cost of just over $800,000, the Virginia Church of God began payment on the cost of the project. In August of 2023, the W. A. Davis Hall was paid off. By retiring this debt early, the Virginia Church of God saved well over a quarter million dollars of interest!

We plan to celebrate the vision which led to the construction of this facility, the commitment of the leadership of Bishop Mirkovich and the Virginia State Council, and the forward thinking of the ministry of the Virginia Church of God by having a special note-burning ceremony on the state campground, June 12 at 3:00 PM.

EVERYONE IS INVITED. Make plans now to attend this event during the week of Camp Meeting 2024 as we burn the note, officially declaring this facility debt free.
